AFMA to refund Commonwealth fishing levy instalments (2 and 3) and the Torres Strait Prawn Fishery levy instalment
Following the Australian Government’s announcement on 1 April 2020 to waive all Commonwealth fishing levies for the remainder of 2019-20, the Australian Fisheries Management Authority will not be enforcing the collection of any further fishing levies for the remainder of 2019-20 associated with Commonwealth levy instalments 2 and 3, and the Torres Strait Prawn Fishery.
In accordance with the Australian Government’s announcement, AFMA is actively working to refund any fisheries levy payments that have already been paid by Commonwealth concession holders associated with Commonwealth fisheries levy invoices 2 and 3, or with the Torres Strait Prawn Fishery levies for the 2019-20 fishing season.
To help facilitate this and ensure your refund is processed promptly, it is important that Commonwealth concession holders download and email the completed Reimbursement of Levy Instalment(s) form to levies@afma.gov.au.
AFMA will use the information you provide to action your refund as soon as possible so it is important that you make sure the information you provide to AFMA is accurate.
If you have not already paid your Commonwealth or Torres Strait Prawn levy instalments that were due on or after 1 April 2020, you are not required to take further action.
If you have any additional questions, please email levies@afma.gov.au or call 1300 723 621.
